Living on the Frontlines of Southern California’s Pollution Problem

Southern California has a major problem:

Our air is filthy and getting worse

As the region with the worst air quality in the nation, our dirty air fails to meet even the minimum federal and state standards needed to protect our health.

Yet time and time again, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), the agency in charge of improving our air quality has sided with industrial polluters instead of the communities they are supposed to protect. The AQMD must finally roll up its sleeves and get to work implementing current rules and developing new rules that mandate polluters clean up their own mess.

Who We Are

We are a diverse coalition of environmental justice advocates and community groups from across Southern California with one shared struggle: Our communities are bearing the brunt of the region’s dangerous air pollution problem.

We’re united in our belief that our region’s air district can and should do more to help all communities breathe easier. It’s time for the AQMD to step up and strengthen regulatory oversight of industrial polluters.
