Our Fight for Clean Air

Southern California has a major problem: our air is filthy and getting worse. As the region with the worst air quality in the nation, our dirty air fails to meet even the minimum federal and state standards needed to protect our health. As the climate crisis makes our dangerous air quality even worse, it is even more important that our region curb deadly air pollution now.

Yet time and time again, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), the agency in charge of improving our air quality has sided with industrial polluters instead of the communities they are supposed to protect. The AQMD must finally roll up its sleeves and get to work on rules that mandate polluters clean up their own mess. We’re advocating for the AQMD to strengthen regulatory oversight by improving the implementation of existing rules and developing new rules mandating that the region’s biggest polluting industries do their part to clean our air.
